This guide explains how to permanently delete your Beekeeping Diary account and all associated data.
Please read carefully before proceeding, as this action cannot be undone.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: This Action is Permanent!
Before you delete your account, please understand:
- ✘ All your data will be permanently deleted (hives, apiaries, records, photos, notes)
- ✘ This action cannot be undone - deleted data cannot be recovered
- ✘ Your subscription will be cancelled (no refunds for remaining time)
- ✘ You'll lose access immediately after confirmation
- ✘ Any shared access you granted will be revoked
- ✘ Your email address may not be reusable for creating a new account
💾 We strongly recommend exporting your data before deleting your account!
📋 Before You Delete: Export Your Data
To keep a backup of your beekeeping records, we recommend exporting your data first:

Open Settings
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner, then select "Settings"

Go to Privacy Section
Scroll down and tap "Privacy & Data"

Export Your Data
Tap "Export My Data" button. Your data will be exported as a JSON file
containing all your hives, apiaries, records, and notes.

Save the File
Save the exported file to a safe location (Google Drive, Dropbox, or your computer).
You can import this file later if you create a new account.
🚫 How to Delete Your Account
Once you've backed up your data (or decided you don't need it), follow these steps to
permanently delete your account:

Open the App
Launch the Beekeeping Diary app on your device

Go to Settings
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner → "Settings"

Navigate to Account Section
Scroll to the bottom and tap "Account" or "Privacy & Data"

Find Delete Account Option
Scroll down to find the "Delete Account" button (usually at the bottom in red)

Read the Warning
A dialog will appear explaining what will be deleted. Read it carefully!

Confirm Your Password
For security, you'll need to enter your password to confirm you're the account owner

Final Confirmation
Type "DELETE" (in capital letters) to confirm you understand this is permanent

Tap "Delete My Account"
Tap the final "Delete My Account" button. Your account will be deleted immediately.
✅ Account Deleted Successfully
After deletion, you'll be logged out automatically and returned to the login screen.
You will receive a confirmation email at your registered email address.

📅 Timeline for Deletion

For compliance with legal obligations, we may retain minimal data for a limited time:
- Transaction Records: Basic subscription transaction logs (amount, date) - retained for 7 years for tax/accounting requirements
- Fraud Prevention: Email hash (anonymized) to prevent abuse - retained for 2 years
- Legal Disputes: If you're involved in a legal dispute, relevant data may be retained until resolution
- Aggregated Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (no personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely
Important: This retained data is minimal, anonymized where possible, and cannot be used to
identify you or recreate your account.

Not Sure About Deleting? Consider These Options:
1. Just Logout
If you just want to stop using the app temporarily, simply logout. Your data will be safe,
and you can login again anytime.
2. Cancel Your Subscription
If you want to stop paying but keep your data, cancel your premium subscription. You'll still
have access to your data with free tier limitations.
3. Clear Local Data Only
If you're selling/giving away your device, just uninstall the app or clear its data in Android
settings. Your account stays active.
4. Take a Break
Your account has no expiration. You can stop using it and come back anytime - your data will
still be there.
5. Export Your Data
If you want to switch to another app, export your data first. You can always delete your
account later.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I recover my account after deletion?
No. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted, your data cannot
be recovered. This is for your security and privacy.
Will I get a refund for my premium subscription?
Generally, no. Google Play's refund policy applies. If you believe you're entitled to a refund,
contact Google Play Support directly. Deleting your account does not guarantee a refund.
Can I use the same email address to create a new account?
After 30 days, your email address becomes available for reuse. However, you'll be creating a
completely new account with no data from the old one.
What happens to data shared with other users?
If you've shared your data with other users, they will lose access when you delete your account.
They cannot prevent you from deleting, but consider notifying them first.
What if I have access to someone else's data?
If someone shared their data with you, deleting your account removes your access. The owner's
data remains intact. To stop accessing without deleting your account, ask the owner to revoke
your access.
Do I need to cancel my subscription separately?
No. Deleting your account automatically cancels your subscription. However, if you want to keep
your account but cancel subscription, do that in Google Play Store instead.
What happens to my Google Play purchase history?
Your purchase history remains in Google Play Store records (for tax/legal purposes), but you
won't have access to the premium features after deletion.
