This guide explains how to permanently delete your Beekeeping Diary account and all associated data. Please read carefully before proceeding, as this action cannot be undone.

Before you delete your account, please understand:

📋 Before You Delete: Export Your Data

To keep a backup of your beekeeping records, we recommend exporting your data first:

1 Open Settings
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner, then select "Settings"
2 Go to Privacy Section
Scroll down and tap "Privacy & Data"
3 Export Your Data
Tap "Export My Data" button. Your data will be exported as a JSON file containing all your hives, apiaries, records, and notes.
4 Save the File
Save the exported file to a safe location (Google Drive, Dropbox, or your computer). You can import this file later if you create a new account.

🚫 How to Delete Your Account

Once you've backed up your data (or decided you don't need it), follow these steps to permanently delete your account:

1 Open the App
Launch the Beekeeping Diary app on your device
2 Go to Settings
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner → "Settings"
3 Navigate to Account Section
Scroll to the bottom and tap "Account" or "Privacy & Data"
4 Find Delete Account Option
Scroll down to find the "Delete Account" button (usually at the bottom in red)
5 Read the Warning
A dialog will appear explaining what will be deleted. Read it carefully!
6 Confirm Your Password
For security, you'll need to enter your password to confirm you're the account owner
7 Final Confirmation
Type "DELETE" (in capital letters) to confirm you understand this is permanent
8 Tap "Delete My Account"
Tap the final "Delete My Account" button. Your account will be deleted immediately.

After deletion, you'll be logged out automatically and returned to the login screen. You will receive a confirmation email at your registered email address.

If you just want to stop using the app temporarily, simply logout. Your data will be safe, and you can login again anytime.

If you want to stop paying but keep your data, cancel your premium subscription. You'll still have access to your data with free tier limitations.

3. Clear Local Data Only

If you're selling/giving away your device, just uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings. Your account stays active.

4. Take a Break

Your account has no expiration. You can stop using it and come back anytime - your data will still be there.

5. Export Your Data

If you want to switch to another app, export your data first. You can always delete your account later.
